How technology affect and influence your relationships?
They say that technology is a negative element for
relationships and it makes of this human progress an enemy. Most of those
people are afraid of the social changes that in the last decide, is becoming
faster. Actually human relationships are changing but we have to analyze the
arguments against and for the technology to make take an accurate position.
First, let’s take a look to the disadvantages of technology
to human relationships. The social network, especially Facebook and Twitter let
many people know other’s lives in a way that privacy is being lost for users.
There are many examples of this situation because people publish their
pictures, videos, status, feelings, new friends, events, likes, hobbies,
gossips and many of them are seen by strangers. Another disadvantage is the
face to face communications loss. Many social networks users prefer chatting
and communicating with their web-friends than their family. Even in presence of
loved persons, many users are building a wall with them interrupting talking
and eye contact for checking their mail, Facebook, Twitter, even games.
The disadvantages said before can make a bad image of technology
but we have to confront it with the benefits technology gives to our modern
societies. First of all, the continuous improvement of element of electronic
devices and software are making day by day an easier way to talk see, sent
letters, share pictures, videos, have appointments and do many things with less
special and temporal restrictions. Not only makes distances shorter but also
gives more possibilities to communicate with foreigners and displaced people.
I conclude that the problem with technology in human
relationships is the same with most of the objects that humans use: positive or
negative is not caused by the things, technology in this case, themselves, but
the way they are used by the people. Then of course human relationships have to
change with technology but it depends on the education and the intentions, how
it makes a better or a worse society.
