THE TECHNOLOGY IN MY RELATIONSHIP BY JUAN ESTEBAN JARAMILLO

The use of communication technologies is important for our current life but it's not always necessary. It depends on your situation.

I’m going to tell a true story, the story of my current relationship. Right now, my girlfriend is doing a master in France. She studied bioengineering at Universidad de Antioquia in Medellin – Colombia. She traveled to Blois – France one year ago and she is studing there for two years.

Since that moment, our relationship changed a lot. Of course, the way we communicate is totally different now. We use mainly the internet and cellphone. For example, an international call is really cheap in this city (Medellin). I mean, I can make a phone call to France from a public phone and it costs $300/min.

On the other hand, we use the internet more often because we both have internet in our cellphones. We make a lot of video-calls and we chat using Skype, Gtalk, Whatsapp or Viber, among others.

Because of those things, I think technology is important depending on the situation. In a long distance relationship is so important but in a closer relationship you don’t need to use it a lot.

Currently, technology is evolving. Things are better, there are better cars, better appliances, better houses, all kinds of things that make our lives better. Technology has impacted our lives. Technology gives us more entertainment and convenience. Now it ‘s very difficult to live without cell phone, computer, car, or TV.

A clear example is the influence of technology on personal relationships with family, friends or coworkers. I think technology is of great benefit to the world. Technology has many advantages:

-       It helps people to communicate with others who are far away.

-       It helps people meet new people and improve social skills

-       It makes communication easier and cheaper

-       The access to the info is quick and easy to get

-       You can find places anywhere in the world

-       You can pay your bills without having to go to the bank

-       At work, you can save time

On the other hand, it‘s risky because people prefer the virtual contact that personal contact. Some people don’t know how to handle all the tools that technology gives them and this becomes an addiction and a necessity to be connected all the time. People are become dependent of technology to do all their tasks like shopping, eating, spending time with their family or friends, etc.

In conclusion, all extremes are bad. Technology is a tool that people should know how to use. This is a great benefit to make life easier, but it's important to know what the limit to use is.

INFLUENCE OF INTERNET IN PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The internet originated like a means of communication between people in written form. For this reason it has taken up a space in the home, business, education and politics.

However, it has advantages and disadvantages.  For example: It fosters the development of the abilities of reading, writing and speaking. It also gives a personalized entertainment center.

On the other hand, this communication form represents for people a change in their daily routines, because currently they can run their errands from their house, and they don’t have to endure long lines.  Although the internet has some disadvantages, because people can suffer some risks and they can put on their life in danger for unscrupulous people.

Notwithstanding, the internet has great influences in personal relationships, because it has broken up with the communication face to face, and it has introduced a new scheme which has allowed people to use different forms to express their feelings and ideas in an easier and faster way. Also it gives them the possibility of meeting new friends, talk with their families and friends from away.

For those reasons, I think that the internet is the best form of communication in society; because it has allowed us to be in continuous contact with the other people and for myself it is easier to express my feelings using texting or video-calls.

To finish, I can say that we have to use this service adequately, because everything in excess is very bad, and we can lost our communication face to face with our relatives, if we don’t have a great control of this technology.

In my opinion, the influence of technology in relationships is good and bad at the same time, because I think that if this tool is used well, it could be a success.

Today, the basis of all technological tools is the Internet. via phone, computer or tablet with this access, you can keep in touch with your loved ones and your friends if they are away. You could see them and you have a more personal and private conversation at a low price without having to go to a specific site to see them or talk to them for a limited time.

However, there are people who have the advantage of having loved ones nearby and keep them only in virtual contact could be personal. These people get so used to the internet and social networks that a simple greeting they virtually. There aren´t phone calls.

But also in case of emergencies or the need of agility to deliver information, it becomes a very practical and effective tool.

There are also people who use the technology to get friends and get married but if not done properly it could be dangerous and health-threatening because the Internet has come to the poorest corners of the cities, and this is where dangerous people take advantage of the good intentions of people committing crimes and trying them death.

If I were this people I´d take special care about who is the person who contacts me and starts a conversation and exchanges personal information.

In conclusion, this tools if used properly you can get what you wish to find.

Technological innovation is one thing that grows every day. It traps us constantly. It currently influences us in ways that we do not believe or we can not imagine. Is one of the most important factors in our lives. However the use of technology in our lives has their advantages and disadvantage.

I think one of the reasons that influence negatively in society with the technology is constant dependence virtual life, because we constantly check social networks, read emails, chat with friends online, this can disconnect us from our work or daily activities . For example, cell development, means that we are constantly vigilant to see if anyone has sent us a text message or if someone is going to call. Definitely when we think in these cases we are relying excessively on technology. Another example is the fact of listening to music through any gadget today.

However, the technology has its positive aspects. And has allowed us to keep in touch with people who are far from us and gives us the way to live. For example, travel, shopping, sports, news etc.

I think while balancing the advantages and disadvantages of technology, know their great features but thanks to the misuse that many of us give this system, not everything is positive, the call is the proper use of Internet and communication mechanisms. Order to generate development in fields that depend on everyday technology.

The way we communicate has changed, no matter what the medium of communication was we have always looked for ways to stay in contact with different people, family, work, sentimental relationships, or friends. Before we communicated through letters, telegraphs, telephones, but currently thanks to the Internet we communicate through cellphones or ipads, but this has brought with it pros and cons.

Technology has become an addiction for alot of people. Walking in the street and chatting at the same time, being in a dinner and not being able to disconnect, being at the beach or at the movies and not being able to relax away from the smartphone or tablet is a strong addiction. Technology is cutting relationships?

It's true that today we communicate faster and more economically; now we dont have to waste as much money calling someone because we can send a voice memo, sent a video, or write through whatsapp, facebook, or viber. In actuality , communication is faster. But are we losing contact?

I think that no extreme is good, we cant lose respect for the person we have next to us and be in cyberspace the whole time, we cant avoid going out to eat icecream in order to look for friends on the Internet. Its necessary to evolutionize but we must control the technology in our lives.
